Wimbledon: Debutant Sees Off Stefanos Tsitsipas To Reach Quarter-final

Stefanos Tsitsipas is out of Wimbledon and he was defeated by an American debutant, Christopher Eubanks in a long five-setter and advanced to the quarter-finals.

Eubanks, 27, had a slow start against the Greek until a set later when he established his resilience and grew stronger for a rally to eliminate the fifth seed in five sets, 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

"I feel like I'm living a dream right now," said the American who marveled at the outcome. "This is absolutely insane. It is surreal, it is unbelievable. I can't believe it."

Unlike Stefanos, the American unforced errors cost him fairly to trail one-set against the Greek before his rallied to win. Earlier, he eliminated British #1 Cameron Norrie in the second-round before seeing off Chris O'Connel in the third-round.

"The funny thing about tennis is, you don't always play at your best. You just have to play really good at certain times," he added.

Though he is making his Wimbledon debut, he has never gone past the second round of any major tournament - it will be his career first major quarterfinal appearance. He had just won his first ATP title at an event in Mallorca, Spain earlier in July.
