Novak Djokovic Fined For Breaking Code of Conduct

Novak Djokovic will pay the sum of £8,000 in fine for misconduct during the final match loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the Wimbledon on Sunday.

The umpire served the former world #1 a warning for breaking his racket in the fifth set. Djokovic walked up to the net and smashed his racket on its right-flank rim in reaction to missing the chance of a break to go up 2-0 in lead in the decider.

Ahead of the final, the second seed had been unbeaten in 34 consecutive matches on the Centre Court and that spanned across 10 years. He lost in five sets as Alcaraz earned the championship point on his forehand error.

As the runner up, he will earn a whooping £1.175m in prize money and 1,200 ATP points. The fine, however, reportedly will be deducted from the prize money.

The 36-year-old could not hold back his emotions over the loss while giving his speech in postmatch interview - he was set for a record-equaling feat of eighth trophy with Roger Federer and a record-high of 24th Grand Slam title.
