Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Wins To Upset McLaren's Record For Most F1 Race Wins In A Row
Max Verstappen retained his dominance of the grid and reclaimed the front row from Lewis Hamilton who started in pole and stayed ahead through the laps to win the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Red Bull is on another level with Verstappen for having upset previous record set for most wins by McLaren for reaching their 12th successive race wins in Budapest. Mercedes' Hamilton quickly dropped behind as Verstappen overtook the lead the race on and won.
Lando Norris lived up to starting in front row and moved a place up to finished second for eighth podium appearance of his career. However, Sergio Perez made an impressive improvement from P9 to make podium finish in third.
The race was a little dramatic from the start as both Alpine drivers, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, crashed into each and retired from the race. Meanwhile, Hamilton fought off McLaren's Oscar Piastri to move up to third but was soon overtaken by Perez as the Red Bull driver steadily moved up the ranks to finish in third.
Hamilton, who finished fourth was heard apologising to his team for having to drop to third so quickly after making his first pole start in 19 month - breaking that down, it works out to be first in 33 races. The team however could find solace in George Russell for improving from P18 to finish sixth behind Piastri.
