Zharnel Hughes Sets New British 100m Record In New York
Dreams they say come true and that just happened to British athlete, Zharnel Hughes at the NYC Grand Prix 100m sprint event on Saturday.
Hughes finished quickest in 9.83 seconds for a golden medal in 100m. His time is now the new British record upsetting the previous record set by Linford Christie 30 years ago.
"When I looked at the clock and saw 9.83 - I don't know if you saw my reaction - but i was like 'What just happened there!' said Hughes.
In second position by a tenth of a second behind Hughes was Jamaican Ackeem Blake and in third was American ace, Christian Coleman.
Amongst other achievements of the 27-year-old is a silver medal in 100m and a gold medal in 200m both at the 2022 European championships. He will be participating at the upcoming World Championships in August.
