Ilkay Gundogan Confirms Transfer To Barcelona
Ilkay Gundogan has completed his transfer to Barcelona ending his seven years spell at Manchester City with which he won treble twice.
With his contract at City winding down by the end of June, Barcelona will be signing igned the midfielder as a free agent and the contract is understood to be for two year with an option for extension.
Under the captaincy of Gundogan, City snapped the elusive Champions League title chase with their first in this season, and upon of that, they won they also Premier League and the FA Cup - they closed the season with a treble. However, City became the first English team ever to win a domestic treble in 2018/19.
Meanwhile, City have already found Mateo Kovacic to replace the existing place. A deal worth £30m has been agreed to between the clubs for the Croatian midfielder in this window.
Gundogan in his statement admitted that his last season at Etihad Stadium was the "greatest experience" of his career. Nevertheless, he also added that there were "hundreds of unforgettable" moments that have made him feel being to the club's "special family."
"Today is bittersweet," he wrote in a lengthy statement. "Good yes are never easy, but it's even harder with this team."
The contract reportedly comes with a huge buyout clause of £400m for the player that scored the two goals the saw City win the FA Cup against Manchester United.
