French Open: Novak Djokovic Wins Title For Third Time

Novak Djokovic has become the most decorated player in men's tennis by extending his Grand Slam streak to 23rd at the French Open.

The third-seed fought through a final against Casper Ruud and won in three-set 7-6(1) 6-2 7-5 and clinched his third Roland-Garros title with a sensational performance.

Football stars like Kylian Mbappe and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and likewise Hollywood actor, Tom Cruise were in attendance to witness the historic moment in Djokovic's career.

Ruud gave it a good fight in the decider until 4-5 but began to made multiple unforced errors in a rally from the three-time champion who served at 6-5 40/15 to claim a championship point.

"It's tough to explain how incredible it is and how good you are and what an inspiration you are," Ruud told Djokovic after the match.

The loss was the third major tournament final for Ruud this season whilst the victory will see Djokovic return to the top of ATP rankings for having secured 2,000pts from winning the final at Roland-Garros.

More so, the victory made Djokovic first player to have won three title in all four major men's singles. Having won his 23rd Grand Slam, he has now surpassed Rafael Nadal to be all-time biggest winner and trails only retired Australian women's player, Margaret Court (24).
