FA Cup: Manchester City Win Trophy For Seventh Time
Manchester City are the FA Cup champions and their seventh after winning 2-1 against Manchester United in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Ilkay Gundogan contributed both goals for City with an assist from Kevin de Bruyne on both occasions. City, throughout the match had the control of the game, and United's loss was to a better side.
City wasted no time to take the lead in the first minute into the game as Gundogan volleyed home a Kevin de Bruyne's cross.
United later leveled the scores from a penalty drawn by Bruno Fernandes who scored from the spot kick. Gundogan restored the lead to City after halftime break when he volleyed a weak left-foot shot past David de Gea following a free-kick.
Instead of United having to bounce back, City kept in their halve for most part of the second half. Scott McTominay's header forced a save from Ederson in injury time and that was their only closest chance.
Gundogan set a new record for the fastest goal in FA Cup final after scoring the opener in 12th second. He upset previous record of 25s from Louis Saha in 2009.
