Europa League: Sevllla Wins Record Seventh Title As Roma Miss Out

Sevilla are now seven-time champions of the UEFA Europa League trophy after defeating AS Roma in the final on penalties, a loss that was a making of the Italian side.

Sevilla came from behind to snatch the victory from Roma who had led from the first half from Paulo Dybala's effort.

Dybala struck home the opening goal from inside the box following a fast break from Gianluca Mancini's through ball. Sevilla later leveled up as Mancini later flicked into his own goal Jesus Navas' cross earlier in the second half.

Roma made multiple efforts to regain the lead with Andrea's Belotic forcing a brilliance save from Bono following free-kick and Chris Smalling's header hit the crossbar on the stoppage time of extra-time.

Rui Patricio scored the winning penalty for Sevilla after Bono had saved two penalties from Roma to see off the Spaniards to their record extending feat of seventh Europa League title.

The defeat gave an undeserving dent to Jose Mourinho's record by ending his unbeating run in a European competition final. It is for the first time the Portuguese manager will lose in a final of major European competition.
