Canadian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Wins Red Bull's 100th F1 Race In Melbourne
Max Verstappen has led Red Bull to their 100th Formula One race win at Canadian Grand Prix in Melbourne which he dominated through to the chequered flag.
Drivers enjoyed a dry weather condition in the final unlike the qualifying session. The race was less dramatic but amongst the incidents had was that of Mercedes' George Russell who ran into the wall and damaged his rear, and later into race, he was retired over damages to his car.
While Verstappen was seemingly untouchable at the front, Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton wrestled the second position with Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso until Lap 22 when the Spaniard sped by Hamilton on the straight. Alonso on held on the chequered flag for a podium finish in second and Hamilton finished third.
Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were able to keep themselves out of troubles and finished in series of 4th and 5th position respectively. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg who was impressive in the qualifying - he did not start in P2 but dropped to P5 over red flag breach - was anonymous throughout the race and finished in 15th place.
Red Bull's Sergio Perez finished in the sixth position while McLaren's Lando Norris bagged five seconds penalty for an offence in the pit. The British driver was dropped to P13 after the race behind Alpine's Pierre Gasly.
