Premier League: Liverpool Leave It Late To Draw Against Aston Villa
Liverpool kept it late to draw 1-1 against Aston Villa and Roberto Firmino was to the player to the rescue of the team at Anfield.
Villa were not the easy ones for Liverpool neither were they in for nothing lesser than winning and were from the start on the offensive. That paid off with them taking the lead after Ollie Watkins missed a penalty.
Minutes after Watkins miss, Douglas lobbed a cross through into the area and Jacob Ramsey smashed the ball home from close range and Villa went ahead in the 27th minute.
Liverpool got fired up in the second half and forced some saves from Emiliano Martinez. Even when Cody Gapko struck a loose ball home, VAR ruled it out for an offside position.
Dead late into the half, Mohamed Salah's cross found Firmino in close range and he lashed the ball past Martinez for the equaliser with just a minute remaining.
At this point, both side held on to the whistle for a draw and Liverpool consolidate on their position in the table for a Europa League slot at least.
