Miami Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Recovers From Behind To Deny Sergio Perez A Win
Max Verstappen recovered from ninth on the grid to win Miami Grand Prix final followed by his teammate, Sergio Perez in one-two finish for Red Bull.
Pole-sitter Perez was the man to beat for Verstappen after pitting for medium tyres on Lap 43. Perez could not hold off the two-time champion on Lap 47 as he overtook to lead the race to the chequer flag and also setting the fastest lap.
Verstappen game plan worked out for him. On trailing Perez, he brought his driving prowess for a showdown, and already his new tyres will give him the advantage of better traction.
The Mexican was helpless coming out of the turns on the straight, the defending champion edged out his teammate to lead the remaining ten laps.
Trailing Peres was Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso, who finished third for a podium position. Meanwhile, Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and sixth respectively.
There are many races yet to go into the season and there are still possibilities of challenges to the driver standings, however, Verstappen is currently poling for another title defense leading on 119 points.
