Italian Open: Norries Cameron Leaves In Quarter-finals After Loss To Novak Djokovic

 


Cameron Norrie could only do so much before being evicted by Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-3 6-4 in the Italian Open quarterfinals. 

Djokovic was a little put the test by his British opponent in an effort to make a rally in the second set at 2-3 lead but his resilient was met the brick walls from the Serbian player. 

As Norrie was trying to cause a scare in the decider an unpleasant ensued when the British player struck the ball at Djokovic in a forehand volley shot. Though, Norries waved in apology to his opponent, whose countenance showed he was displeased with the incident. 

"Maybe you could say he didn't hit me deliberately. I don't know if he saw me," said Djokovic afterward. "The ball was super slow and super close to the net  I just turned around because the point was over for me."

Djokovic, a six-time champion of the tournament has not lost in 17 successive quarterfinal in Rome. He will face Danish Holger Rune in the semi-finals.
