Europa League: Sevilla Are Tgrough To Final After Juventus Loss
Sevilla are through to the UEFA Europa League final as they defeated Juventus 2-1 (Aggr. 3-2) in a semifinal second leg tie that went into extra-time.
With no goals scored in the first half, substitutes made by the managers brought the spark with newly introduced players scoring for both sides in the second half.
Dusan Vlahovic latched onto the ball past a defender and struck the ball home to put Juve ahead before Suso leveled the scores for Sevilla with a thundering left-foot past Wojciech Szczesny from near edge of the box.
Bryan Gill, on the brink of the 90th minutes nearly put Sevilla through but Szczesny stopped his shot and the game ended inconclusive.
As the extra-time commenced, Sevilla quickly went in the lead as Erik Lamela planted a header on Bryan Gill's cross in five minutes into added minutes. That goal stopped the game from going into penalties and Sevilla qent through to the final.
Sevilla are vying for their seventh Europa League title, and will face in the final, Jose Mourinho-led side AS Roma who won the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League.
