Chelsea Sign Mauricio Pocchettino To Two-year Contract
Chelsea has finally completed the signing of Mauricio Pocchettino to a two-year contract as the club's new manager starting from July, 1.
Frank Lampard who managed the club as a caretaker until the end of the season, led the side to a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Sunday. He took over from Graham Potter earlier in April.
Potter was dismissed after a string of losses. He was just less than seven month into the job but as Chelsea dropped to the middle of the table following the side's poor performance, the club could not help sacking him.
"Mauricio's experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football club well as we move forward," said Blues' sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.
Pocchettino has been out of job since he was dismissed at Paris Saint-Germain last summer and his deal signing with Chelsea will mark his return to Premier League since he left Tottenham to join the Ligue 1 side.
