Champions League: Real Madrid And Man. City Draw Semis First-leg Tie
Manchester City got off to a good start against Real Madrid as they played 1-1 draw at Bernabeu in the semi-final first-leg tie of the Champions League.
Tough game for both sides' and their top strikers, Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland were kept on checked on both sides until Real broke the deadlock just after half hour and City responded with an equalizer after an hour.
Real took the lead as Vinicius slammed a 25-yard shot home from Eduardo Carnavinga's cross. Ilkay Gundogan's pass set up the chance for Kevin de Bruyne for a well-aimed shot that beat Thibaut Courtois to the goal for an equalizer in the 67th minute.
The nearest Real could get to getting another goal was Aurelie Tchouameni forcing a save from Ederson. City were able to hold off a resurgent Real till the end of the game.
City have not won the Champions League once and the closest they gone was as runners-up against Chelsea in 2020/21. Meanwhile, advancing past semi-finals will edge Real closer to defending the trophy.
