Champions League: Man City Humble Out Real Madrid To Set Up Final Against Inter Milan
It was a well-deserved victory for Manchester City as they headed to Istabul, Turkey for the Champions League final after defeating Real Madrid 4-0 (Aggr. 5-1) in the semi-final second-leg tie.
Fanstatic performance from City from the fi rst half witnessed two goals from Bernando Silva and the second half was no better for Madrid with Karim Bernzema tbeing almost a non-factor throughout the game coupled with overworked Vinicius Junior. Eventually, City went four goals clear to wind up the game.
Silva received a through pass from Kevin de Bruyne and smashed the ball through as City went in the lead. Minutes later, he doubled scores with a header to a deflected shot from Militao.
While Real was expected to return from halftime break revitalized, they were no better off almost aimless at the goal. City remained resilient to make it pass to final and Manuel Aknaji's header was deflected home on Militao for City's third goal folllowing a free-kick.
Real manager Carlos Ancelotti brought in more fresh legs into the game by making multiple substitutes but nothing changed for the side. Instead, City went four goals clear as Julian Alvarez steered into the net Phil Foden's through pass in the injury time.
Alvarez's goal was the sinker and the road to Instabul was clear for City. They will travel to face Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul, as they contend for their first ever Champions League trophy whilst the Italians hope to snap their drought since 2010 the last time they won the trophy.
