2023 AMVCA Awards: Aníkúlápó Takes Most Awards To Lead With Five
Aníkúlápó lived up to expectations at the 2023 AMVCA Awards ceremony on Saturday and led the stack with five awards including Overall Best Movie, Africa.
Saturday night witnessed fabulous appearances and costumes from guests and figures from the industry at the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos. Beauty Tukura and Enioluwa Adeoluwa received awards for best dressed at the show.
Leading up to the big day, besides Aníkúlápó receiving most nominations with 16 nods, AMVCA snubbing the film's lead actor Kunle Yemi came as a shock to its fans, who deemed it a no brainer the actor will make the category.
Though, Tobi Bakre won best actor (movie/TV series) for Brotherhood, it yet went well Kunle Afolayan directed film and it racked up best indigenous Language' (Yoruba), overall movie, Africa, best writer (movie/TV series), best sound track (movie/TV series) and best sound editor (movie/TV series).
Another big winner at the ceremony was Wale Adeleke who grabbed best art director for King of Thieves (Agesinkole). The film directed by Tope Adebayo and Tijani Adebayo and produced by Femi Adebayo.
