Tottenham Take Action On Manager Over Defeat
Tottenham have sacked manager Christian Stellini after the club's massive 6-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday as the side continues to struggle to finish in the top four of the league.
Confirming the dismissal of Stellini, Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy blamed the decision on performance and their loss to Newcastle which he reportedly described as disturbing and unacceptable.
Having loss the fixture, Newcastle have now won back-to-back against Tottenham for the first time since 2015/16. Similarly, Magpies' 5-0 lead in the first half is the second earliest in the Premier League since Manchester City vs. Watford in 2019.
Assistant coach Ryan Mason has now been confirmed to replace Stellini as an interim manager for the remaining part of the season. Meanwhile, Mason is not new to the role as he did in the last week of 2020/21 season replacing Mauricio Pocchettino.
