Premier League: Man. City Throw Open Title Race After Arsenal Loss
Manchester City have finally thrown wide and open the Premier League title race and have closed up on leaders, Arsenal after taking a massive 4-1 win against the London-based club.
Etihad Stadium proved to be unyielding for Arsenal very early into the game as City took the lead in the seventh minutes when Kevin de Bruyne latched onto Erling Haaland's through pass and steered the ball to beat Aaron Ramsdale to the goal.
Just on the brink of halftime, John Stones powered a header home from Kevin's free-kick for the side's second goal. It did not get better for Arsenal after the break and they conceded the third goal from Kevin's strick from inside the box with an assist from Haaland.
At this point, Arsenal were only clinging on before Jorginho slammed past Ederson a through pass from Leandro Trossard with two minutes remaining. Instead of a late comeback, City yet scored the winning goal as Haaland struck home the fourth goal from Foden's pass.
For whatever reason, Arsenal seemed to be sliding down the table which to most of their fans will be disappointing amidst strong contest from City. If for any reason Arsenal desperately need to finish atop, it will be that they have not won the title before and after former manager Arsene Wenger left the club - their last Premier League title was in 2003.
Arsenal have only won one out of five previous league games whilst City have won all their previous five amidst title race that has now been thrown open as Arsenal lead on two points.
