Premier League: Liverpool Narrowly Edge Past Forest In Second Half Five-goal Thriller
Nottingham Forest had a classic show of resilience at Anfield and narrowly lost to Liverpool in a second half five-goal thriller that ended 3-2 in favour of the host team.
Forest desperately needed the maximum points, which would have leapfrogged the side out of relegation zone and Liverpool held strongly to get through the game as they too are vying to finish in the top four.
Forest came back twice to level the scoring. Neco Williams struck a left-foot shot from outside the box to level the scores after Diogo Jota header put Liverpool ahead soon after halftime.
Liverpool retook the lead as Jota superbly volleyed home Robertson's cross and Forest responded with overhead-style finish from Morgan Gibbs-White to equalise.
Mo Salah, in the end, scored the deciding goal for Liverpool, beating a defender in contest for Alexander-Arnold' cross and tapped home the third goal for the side.
Forest later had a couple of sensational attempts as Awoniyi's scissors-kick and Brenham Johnson's attempt narrowly missed the goal. Liverpool eventually won the match but it was hard-earned.
