Premier League: Everton Fail To Hold Off Loss To United
Hard-fighting Everton could not make a thing out of their effort at Old Trafford where the lost 2-0 to Manchester United that moved a place up the table to be third on 56 points.
Jordan Pickford did a good job at keeping United's shots from close ranges from getting in the goal. Even Marcus Rashford couldn't get the ball past him on one-on-one until Scott McTominay snapped the deadlock.
It happened nine minutes before halftime when Jando Sancho's through pass found McTominay inside the area and he smashed the ball from a difficult down bottom left to beat Pickford to the goal.
The second goal followed suit but not until 71st minute when Anthony Martial curled the ball home from edge of the box following a set of one-two passes between him and Rashford.
Everton are barely out of trouble as they are just a place away from red zone in 17th position on 27 points. Great efforts from Pickford and the team but United just wanted the win and they got it.
