Woman Becomes First Black Female Multiple Oscars Winner

One prestigious award that most film stars look forward to having during their career is no other than that of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, otherwise known as Oscars and, having a multiple of that is such that no black woman has not attained - even famous actress Halle Berry has just one Oscar award to her name.

The wait to end that deadlock is now over and Ruth E. Carter has just made it happen. She became the first black woman to win multiple Oscars after winning her second for costume design for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - that was the only award won by the superhero film at the ceremony. Carter had won her first Oscar in 2019 with the debut of Black Panther film.

In the 62-year-old's acceptance speech, she recalled the positive impact and contributions her late mother had to her her career successes and how she endured through and through with her, and now she is a multiple winner. She even went further to elougise the film's late lead actor, Chadwick Boseman and asked him to "please take acre of mom."

She added: "I feel that this win opens the door for other young costume designers that may not think this industry is for them and hopefully they'll see me, and they'll see my story and think they can win an Oscar too."

Carter joined the list of black actors that have won multiple Oscars and that includes Denzel Washington, Mahershala Alli, Russell Williams, and Willie D. Burton, an audio engineer.
