Ke Huy Quan Unveils To-Do Plan For First Oscar Win
For Ke Huy Quan, portraying Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All At Once is his first major role in 30 years, and that role, is now a big deal for the Vietanamese having won Golden Globes award, Critics Choice award and, upon of that, he won his first Oscar award for his supporting role in the film and became the first from his country to ever win Oscar.
Now, that he is an Oscar-winning artiste, you would expect his big plan to be probably throwing a big house party - that could be and might have kept that to him - but what he obviously would do as he had said in his acceptance speech is not what you would expect.
"I don't know what I'm doing next. All I know is first thing tomorrow, I'm going to call my agent!" he said in bhis acceptance speech. I remember when I was struggling, I would call my agent. I tried not to bother him too much, but I would call him every three months or every six months."
That, of course sound hilarious. But, for Quan who made his debut in 1980s Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom and later also in The Goonies, then followed by 30-year hiatus because he considered himself unsuitable for most acting role offered him, calling the agent that rekindled his acting career can only his first plan.
He explained: "I remember how difficult it was for me, so that's why every time I walk on a movie set, I'm so grateful. This, tonight, I certainly didn't think was possible. I don't ever want to forget that. I think it's important to appreciate where you are."
Quan made his acting debut as a kid, 11, and the career has not been a smooth ride for him, rather he had almost quitted before giving it a try and that turned out to be a turn around. Even, the film, Everything Everywhere All At Once was initially affected by the Covid-19 and it took two years before it finally made it to the big screen.
