Europa League: Man United Reach Quarterfinals After Ousing Real Betis
Manchester United took a classic entry into the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals on aggregate goals of 5-1 after winning 1-0 against Real Betis on their second-leg tie of the Round of 16.
Coming into the game, United had an advantage on four-to-one goal lead from the first-leg tie and a comeback from Betis would have been disastrous and that did not happen.
Betis did have fantastic chances on two occasions that Juanmi came close to putting the side ahead but just could not connected the ball with the net. Joaquin also saw his 30-yard shot hit the side of the pole and go into safety.
Marcus Rashford, who had all these while also had chances to score eventually ended the deadlock and steered a 30-yard shot to beat goalkeeper Rui Silva to the goal and United went in the lead to win the game.
The victory brought United closer to snapping their trophy drought since Jose Mourinho left the side in 2017 and it will be their second European competition trophy since then.
