Anthony Joshua Says This Reason Will Make Him Retirement

Anthony Joshua started his career as one favourite boxer that might end up having all the heavyweight belts in his possession in a unification fight as the undisputed heavyweight champion. Now, that is in doubt about him after a series of shocking defeats.

The expectation suffered a slight setback when he lost his belts to Mexican-American fighter, Andy Ruiz Jr. In 2019 and he later reclaimed the belts rematch in Saudi Arabi. He went on  lose all the belts again and in two fights to Ukrainian heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.

As it is presently, the boxer's dreams of becoming an undisputed champion is not in view and his desire to fight WBA heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury between November and December could not attract sponsors. Now, he is let to settle for fighting American fighter, Jermaine Franklin on April 1 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.

"I will. I will retire if I lose. I'm not here to battle people," Joshua confessed when asked about the fight against Franklin.

Joshua, during his fight with Usyk, lost on his unanimous decision of 117-112, 116-112, 115-113. On their rematch which was expected to be a return for the British fighter lost yet again in a unanimous decision, 115 - 113, 116 - 112, 115 - 112.

He added. "If people want me to retire I will retire. I'm not going to fight if people don't want me to. It's not even about the money. It's about the competitor in you. That's what's important."

There seemed to be a glimpse of hope of doing really well after retirement for Joshua as he revealed he will not be doing much afterwards but just "chilling" out.
