Premier League: City Drop From Table Lead After Draw Against Forest
Manchester City could not helped to watch a should-be win slid off them as Nottingham Forest comeback to get a 1-1 at home and City dropped to second behind Arsenal in table lead.
City had most of the game in their control but could not beat easily the defense line of Forest whose game plan eventually worked out to get them draw late into the game.
Bernando Silva put City ahead with a long-range shot from the edge of the box and Chris Wood swept home Morgan Gibbs-White's cross to equalise for Forest with six minutes remaining.
Keylor Navas played a vital role in Forest's resilience to hold off aggressive City, who took the lead from Silva's 20-yard shot in the 41st minute.
City found such a resilient Forest to beat that the opening goal came off a long range shot and even when they hand a fantastic chance Erling Haaland could not beat Navas to the goal from close range and stopped Aymeric Laporte's header on the crossline following a corner.
Phil Foden had a lofty chance on a fast break but tapped the ball into Navas' catch instead of letting a pass to Haaland for a finish for City's second goal whilst Navas rushed out to stop him.
City found newly-promoted side, Forest hard to beat which last happened to them in 2021 against Leeds United. Meanwhile, Forest remained unbeaten through eight Premier League home games and are in sixth place with three points clear nearest team, Brighton.
