Lionel Messi Named Fifa Men's Player of the Year
Paris Saint-Germain and Argetina forward, Lionel Messi has been crowned men's player of the year at the 2022 Best Fifa Football Awards that was held in Paris, France on Monday.
"I achieved the dream I had been hoping for for so long," said the 35-year-old, who led Argentina to win their third Fifa World Cup trophy in Qatar - he was voted the Most Valuable Player and contributed seven goals to Argentina en route the victory.
Messi was voted for the conveted prize in contest against PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid forward, Real Madrid.
Argentina head coah, Lionel Scaloni who led the country to win the Fifa World Cup in Qatar was voted men's coach of the year and the team's goalkeeper Emiliano Martinelli was named men's best goalkeeper of the year.
