FA Cup: Liverpool Escape Third Round Elimination By Wolverhampton
Liverpool narrowly escaped being ousted by Wolverhampton in the FA Cup third round following a 2-2 draw and both sides will have to play second game to decide which goes through to the next round.
The game should have gone Wolves' way if not for VAR cancellation of a late stunner from Toti Gomez for offside position. Mohamed Salah played impressively well for Reds and was involved in the two goals for Reds but Allisson's errors were costly for the side against resilient Wolves.
Wolves' Goncalo Guedes put Wolves in the lead following a goalkeeping error and Salah restored Reds into the game when Darwin Nunez finished off his cross for the equalizer in the second half.
Salah added in the second when a back header from Gomez landed on his foot inside the area and Wolves' Hwang Hee-chan leveled the scoring after a one-two pass with Mattheu Cunha.
A separate game will have to hold to determine the winner between the two side and the game will last for at least 90 minutes.
