EFL Cup: Manchester United Are Into Semi-Finals
Manchester United have advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao EFL Cup after beating Charlton 3-0 at Old Trafford Stadium.
Charlton were heavily dominated by United and they were unable a lot of chances despite have the ball in their possession for the most of the game. But, the goal from Anthony and the two late goals from Marcus Rashford were just enough to see them through.
Anthony scored from a curly left-footed shot from the edge of the box in the 21st minutes and United could not add more goals in until injury time when Rashford finished out two separate passes Pellistri and Casemiro's and added in two more goals within four minutes of added minutes.
Amongst all the wasted chances, a free-kick taking by Fred was a goal that eluded United in the first half as it clipped the woodwork and bound off to safety. There were not much threats faced by United goalkeepeer Tom Heaton from Charlton as they could not break through United defense.
Reaching the semi-finals increases United's chance of snapping their trophy-drought since 2017 under Jose Mourinho at the Europa League.
