World Cup 2022: Ghana, Uruguay Drop Out

 


Uruguay delivered a fantastic 2-0 win against Ghana but are yet out of the competition in Qatar as both sides finished third and fourth of Group H.

Luiz Suarez could not hold back his emotions as he watched from the bench the Uruguayan side inability to score a much goal late into the game to take them through to the Last 16 - They were eliminated on goals difference with Japan ,who defeated Portugal 2-1 to finish second of the group. 

Ghana, as well, stood the chance to make a head way to the knockouts but Sergio Rochet saved a penalty taken by Andre Ayew in the first half. From that point on, the Uruguayan side came out for the offensive which did pay off as Giogian Arrascaeta scored twice within five minutes. 

Arrascaeta headed home a loose ball from saved Suarez's strike to put the side in the lead, and five minutes later, he doubled the lead curling into the net a lob pass from Suarez. 

Both players were substituted for in the second half, and soon after that decision, Japan took a 2-1 lead over Portugal to qualify for the knockouts. As Uruguay and Ghana are out, Portugal will face the runners-up from Group G and Japan will meet the leaders of Group G.
