World Cup 2022: France Are Into Historic Final
France are in the final of the World Cup and they will face Argentina after defetaing Morocco 2-0 in a hard-fought match that saw Randal Kolo Muani scored his first international goal for the side.
Reaching the final is such an historic moment for France as they are the first country to reach the final of Fifa World Cup tournament for two successive time in a row, and as the defending champions, they are set for to be the first to defend the trophy back-to-back.
Theo Hernandez leapt for a slam on a loose ball from Kylian Mbappe's rebound shot and scored the opening goal five minutes into the game. Olivier Giroud later came close to doubling the lead but his shot clipped the woodwork and bounced off out of touch.
Morocco, thereafter, fought back bitter and forced France to be defensive as they repeatedly bored into their opponents defense which culminated in Jawad El Yamiq forcing a superb save from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Just after Randal came in as substitute for Dembele in the second half, he sent France to the final lashing home a deflected shot from Mbappe. The team coach Didier Deschamp's gamble worked out just as intended and France won the game.
Mbappe assisted in both goals scored by Hernandez and Randal and that was not to mention that a couple of great saves from Lloris kept France in the game. More so, Antonie Griezmann contributions to the game can not be overemphasied.
History awaits Didier Deschamp in the final as he is set to become the first manager to lift the trophy back-to-back but his team will have to stand the test against Argentina on Sunday.
