World Cup 2022: Croatia Win Third-Place Playoff For Bronze Medal
Croatia are third-place playoff winners after beating Morocco 2-1 to clinch the bronze medal of the Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco did really well throughout the tournament, and even though the bronze medal eluded them, they are yet the first African team to make a Fifa World Cup third-place playoff appearance.
Josko Gvardiol's superb header following a free-kick gave Croatia the lead, and just two minutes later, Morocco levelled from Acharf Dari's header following a free-kick.
The game's fate was decided in the first when Croatia's Mislav Orsic curled shot beat goalkeeper Bono to struck the woodwork and bound into the goal.
The second half was tensed with Morocco nearly getting an equalizer from Amallah's strike from close range, and likewise Croatia, was near adding one in.
Croatia, at the last Fifa World Cup, finished as the runners-up for a silver medal, and this year's bronze medal will be their second medal in a row in six Fifa World Cup appearances.
