World Cup 2022: Argentina Are Champions For First Time In 36 years
Argentina have ended their Fifa World Cup jinx after beating France on penalties to lift the trophy in a dramatic final that saw Kylian Mbappe score a hattrick.
Kylian was by far the deadliest striker of the game for scoring twice to forced the game into extra-time, and that happened in a comeback from two goals down from the first half when Lionel Messi's penalty and Angel Di Maria's strike gave Argentina the lead.
Messi and Kylian both scored in the extra-time and the game could only be decided on penalties from which Argentina came on top as goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved two penalties to see Argentina through.
Messi, in the end, led side to win the country's third World Cup trophy since 1986 on his last appearnce in the competition. He finished the tournament with seven goals and that was spread through every stage of the competition.
Though, France could not defend the trophy back-to-back but Kylian yet was the star of the day as he became the first to score a hattrick in a World Cup final since 1966 and finished the competition with eight goals for a Golden Boot award.
