Premier League: Tottenham Seize Late Comeback To Avoid Loss At Brentford
Tottenham fought back from behind to force a 2-2 away draw against Brentford late into the game on their first game since the Fifa World Cup break.
Brentford were in a comfortable lead with two goals clear until the last 25minutes when Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerb restored Spurs into the game that was earlier dominated by their hosts.
Vitaly Janelt put Bees in the lead finishing off a rebound shot poorly saved by goalkeeper Fraser Forster, and after the break, Ivan Toney latched onto a loose ball from Christian Norgaard's header and doubled the lead.
While hope seemed lost for Spurs, Harry scored with a header from Clement Lenglet's cross after an hour of play, and six minutes later, Pierre-Emile smashed a curled shot for a neat finish and equalized for the side.
Spurs seized the remaining minutes of the game to put pressure on their hosts and it nearly paid off when Harry struck the woodwork and another effort from Son Heung-min was saved by goalkeeper David Raya.
Tottenham avoided conceding their first defeat to Brentford since 1948 and they remained in top four of the table on 30 points - that is four points clear nearest team, Manchester United.
