World Cup 2022: Switzerland Takes Lead By Beating Cameroon
Switzerland has taken the lead of their table as Cameroon fell to the bottom after losing 1-0 to the Swiss in their opening game at the Fifa World Cup tournament in Qatar.
Cameroon were as expected enterprising and had great chances to make away with victory but Cameroonian-born Swiss, Breel Embolo did the needful to give Switzerland the lead just after the break.
Embolo recieved a through pass from Xheran Shaqiri and smashed the ball home for the side's opening goal just minutes after the halftime break. He later had another chance to score from close range following a corner but hit the ball wide.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana was at the rescue of the Cameroonians and saved Ruben Vargas' shot following a cross. The side managed to keep the scoreline moderate as the Swiss repeatedly made attempts to score more goals.
The Swiss now leads Group G on three points and will play against Brazil on their next game while Cameroon will face Serbia.
