World Cup 2022: Richarlison Leads Brazil To Win Hard-fought Opening Game Against Serbia
Richarlison scored two much needed goals to lead the way to a 2-1 win for Brazil in ahard-fought opening game against Serbia in Qatar and rescued the maximum points for the side to lead Group G.
The Serbians were greatly resilient deploring highly defensive tactics to keep the Brazilians in check and that remained effective until after the halftime break when a rebound shot came in the way of Richarlison and the first goal was recorded.
Neymar Jr. inspired what led to the opening when his lose ball rolled over to Vinicius Junior for a shot which goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic parried and Richarlison smashed home the rebound for the opening goal.
As the Sambas Boys continued the search for the second goal their efforts eventually paid off when Vinicus's cross found Richarlison in box and he attempted a stunning acrobatic kick that beat Milinkovic to the goal.
Both Neymar and Richarlison were later substituted and Fred who came as the substitute for Tolentino Coelho wasted a chance that he should have allowed Gabriel Jesus to take.
Raphinla and Viniciius both had glaring chances to score in the first half but the pair's attempts were too weak for Milinkovic to save. Brazil now leads their table on three points followed by Switzerland who defeated Cameroon by 1-0 and Serbia is at the bottom.
