World Cup 2022: Caneroon Keeps Hope Alive With Draw Against Serbia
Cameroon and Serbia have both kept alive their hope of remaining in the World Cup tournament in Qatar following a 3-3 draw but that depends on the outcome of the game between Brazil and Switzerland.
The draw came on the backdrop of a comeback from the Cameroonians, who nearly suffered a loss to the Serbians until Vincent Aboubakar, following two fast breaks, inspired the rally that saw the side score two goals within the space of two minutes.
Jean-Charles Castellatto put Cameroon in a lead by tapping into the net a header pass from Nkoulou following a corner. The Serbians waited until late into the first half to respond when Strahinja Pavlovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored to put the side in the lead.
Pavlovic nodded home a free-kick from Dusan Tadic, who again assisted with a pass that culminated in the second goal from Milinkovic-Savic two minutes later on the brink of the halftime whistle.
Soon after the break, the Serbians scored the third goal from Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Cameroon launched a comeback 10 minutes later when Aboubakar finished off a long-range lob from Castellatto, and Aboubakar in return assisted with Choupo-Moting's goal that leveled the scoring.
Cameroon were able to hold on to the draw to the full-time even as the Serbians made efforts to regain the lead especially when Tadic;s loss passed was steered wide by Mitrovic.
