World Cup 2022: Argentina, Poland Through To Knockouts
Argentina is through to the knockouts of the Fifa World Cup in Qatar, likewise Poland despite losing 2-0 to the Argentines who came out atop Group C on six points.
The Polish side's fate was hinged on the outcome of the game between Mexico and Saudi Arabia which ended in 2-1 victory to the South Americans but are out of the tournament on goals aggregate despite sharing same points with the Polish team.
Robert Lewandowski was kept in check throughtout the game and was no where near effective to threaten the Argentines while Lionel Messi was allover the place making great contributions that in the end gave the side the much needed victory.
Messi missed a penalty to the brilliant save of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny before the side found the back of the net when Alexis MacAllister smashed home Molina's cross and Julian Alvarev doubled the lead brilliantly steering into the goal a through pass from Fernandez.
Mexico's hope of progression to the knockouts was wrecked having led 2-0 when Saudi's Salem Aldawsari scored in the added minutes. It was an emotional end for the Mexico to watch their hope of making it through slid away by slim margin.
Argentine, now will face Australia from Group D and Polan will face Group D leaders, France in the Last 16 of the World Cup in Qatar.
