Daniel Ricciardo Is Set To Join Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo is expected to join Red Bull as the team's third driver for F1 2023 season which would be a return for the Australian who raced for the team between 2014 to 2018.

McLaren terminated the contract it has with Ricciardo over his performance which they deemed not satisfactory enough compared to that of his teammate Lando Norris. Ever since, there has not been a new prospect for Aussie on what next season holds for him.

Red Bull's official Helmut Marko revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that the 33-year-old will be the team's "third driver" with Liam Lawson who is the also an official reserve with the team.

He added: "We have so many sponsors, we have to do show runs, so of course he's one of the most high-profile and best suited."

Ricciardo could have found seat with other teams at the back of the grid but he is understood to have prefered to join a top side as a reserve or development driver. It was also speculated that he could get a seat with Mercedes but a return to Red Bull seemed preferable as the side also wanted him since he was once in their team.
