World Cup 2022: England Takes Big Win Against Iran
England has taken a perfect a start to their Fifa 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar with a massive 6-2 victory against Iran in their opening game and now in the lead in Group B on 3 points.
Iran's start to the game suffered a heavy disappointment when the goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand was taken out on a stretcher and substituted for an injury to the head following a head-on collison with a team-mate. That incident later brought the hammer down on the Iran as they fell behind by three goals before that halhtime break.
Luke Shaw's cross created the chance for Jude Bellingham's header that put England in the lead and Bukayo Saka's volley of Harry Maguire's header pass doubled the lead just few minutes before the halftime whistle.
It didn't get better even as it was few minutes to the halftime break as Harry Kane's cross from inside the 18-yard box was poked into the net by Raheem Sterling and England went on break in the lead by three to a nill.
Iran managed to get a goal from Mehdi Taremi's strike from close range after Engalnd had taken a 4-0 lead from Saka's shot from inside the box. Marcus Rashford briddled an oncoming defender and smashed in the fifth goal, then followed Callum Wilson's pass that set off Jack Grealish for the strike for the sixth goal on the brink of 90th minute of play.
Whilst the game entered into added minutes, Taremi scored his second goal of the game and a consolation to defeated Iran team whose goalkeeper suffered an injury early into the game.
England, one-time champions of the World Cup, will proceed to play against the United States and Iran will take on Wales on their next match.
