World Cup 2022: Ecuador Beat Qatar To Get Off To Good Start

Ecuador is off to a good start in the Fifa 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a 2-0 defeat of the host team and took the lead of Group A on three points.

Qatar was faced with a much better and experienced side and could not find their place in the game until late into the game when they had their only close shave at scoring with a nice volley from Almoez Alli that missed the goal by few inches.

Enner Valencia scored both goals for Ecuador in the first half. He put the side in the lead scoring from a penalty drawn from goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb's rough tackle on him and the second goal was from a header following a Preciardo's cross.

The scoreline could have been wider if not that an early goal from Valencia was ruled out for offside position after the referee consulted the virtual assistant referee.

Throughout the game, Ecuador proved to be the stronger side and using all sides to penetrate into the hosts' half  and had them under control.
