Singapore Grand Prix: "Zero Enjoyment" Laments Max Verstappen As Sergio Perez Wins
Sergio Perez emerged as the Singapore Grand Prix champion for his fourth career race wins as Max Verstappen missed out flat on podium finish.
The race witnessed loads of safety car incidents and Lewis Hamilton was amongst drivers that ran into the barriers during the race which happened at Turn 7 on Lap 33, and he could not go into the escape road but quickly rejoined the race. Verstappen also ran off track into the escape road and spun the car round to rejoin the race.
"Zero enjoyment. This is not what i enjoy," Verstappen described the race as expressing his frustration despite standing in pole to winning the F1 Championship back-to-back.
Charles Leclerc who started in the pole trailed Perez for the most part of the race and whilst he stood the chance of overtaking Perez, he ruined the opportunity following a mistake that he made at Turn 16 on Lap 42. In the end, he finished in the second place behind the Red Bull driver, who won his second race of the season.
Hamilton also forfeited his spot to Verstappen following an attempt to overtake Sebastian Vettel that failed and the Red Bull driver simply sped past him and later on went passed Vettel to finish Vettel.
Verstappen added: "I had massive flatspots. So, I had to pit again and put new tyres on. I got back in the points, but it is course not what we wanted and after yesterday we cannot ask for miracles."
