Premier League: Tottenham Close Gap With Table Leaders After Defeating Everton
Tottenham have moved in on EPL table leadership contest after beating Everton 2-0 and leveled on points with Manchester City as they both trailed the top spot by just a point.
Spurs' forward Harry Kane came into the game for the 400th appearance for the side and made it memorable by scoring the opening goal after several multiple failed attempts at the goal. He got a compensation for his efforts when he was fouled in the box by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
After Kane had put Spurs in the lead by converting the penalty drawn in the second half, Everton held the on to the game until late into the game when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made it a second for the side with a brilliant finish of Rodrigo Bentacur's cross.
Everton did have fair chances that could have at least swung the game the game their way but were unable to find the back of the net despite making those attempts from close ranges. The lost now cause them to drop further in the table. Tottenham also are set to trail their rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal by wider margin should they win their games on Sunday.
