Premier League: Chelsea Endure Disastrous Loss Against Brighton On New Manager's Debut
Brighton welcomed their new manager Roberto de Zerbi with a masterclass 4-1 win against Chelsea at Amex Stadium.
Graham Potter had a difficult day watching the disastrous defeat in which the Seagulls ripped up his defense, and his men being under pressure, made costly errors that gifted away two goals.
From the start, Brighton came out all offensive and nearly had two goals in but were blocked by Thiago Silva with a header from the goalline.
Eventually, Chelsea conceded the first goal in five minutes from Leandro Trossard, who rounded Kepa Arrizabalaga and finished the pass he received from Mitoma.
Less than ten minutes later, Ruben Loftus-Cheek deflected in the second goal following a corner from Solly March. Before the halftime break, Arrizabalaga was beaten to the goal by Trevor Chalobah erroneously sliding into the net Pervins Estuspinan's shot and Brighton took a three goal lead.
Chelsea recovered from the chaos of the first half after the break and Kai Havertz scored their first goal early into the half but the would be the only goal as Brighton scored their fourth from Pascal Gross's shot at a rebound from Meny Edoard's parry - he replaced Arrizabalaga after the break.
Chelsea were overwhelmed by Brighton throughout the game and their defence could not managed the repeated onslaught of the Seagulls from the start of the game.
