Europa League: PSV Thrash Arsenal To Edge Close To Taking Topspot
Arsenal retained knockout stage quallifying hope despite losing 2-0 to PSV Eindhoven in a sensational match that witnessed the Dutch side being denied of three goals for offside positions.
PSV had a well-deserved victory at their home stadium against their Premier counterparts and are set to contend for the topspot of Group A should they win their last game if Arsenal did not.
In the first half of the game alone, PSV scored two goals and were ruled out for offside position but after the halftime break, a Joey Veerman's strike from inside the box after a set of passes between Luuk de Jong and Ramalho Silva ended the deadlock and the hosts moved up in the lead.
Minutes later, de Jong made it second goal with a header following a cross and Gakpo scored yet again finishing off Ramalho's cross but the flag was up for offside position. Arsenal's defense was clinically torn down repeatedly by the Dutch side through the game and they earned the maximum position comfortably.
