Europa League: Arsenal Close On Reaching Knockout Stage After PSV Defeat

Arsenal have apparently made certain their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League having defeated PSV Eindhoven 1-0 at Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta led his men to successfully defeat Ruud van Nistelrooy's side that had a brilliant goalkeeper Walter Benitez to thank for their resilience until that came to its end from Granit Xhaka's strike.

PSV came under repeatedly attacks from Arsenal, who in spite of that could not back of the net as the Dutch side's goalkeeper Benitez made multiple brilliant saves to the keep the side in the game while their hosts' defence was barely challenged.

The game in the end went Arsenal's way just moments after Gabriel Jesus' attempt from close range was saved by Benitez, Takehiro Tomiyasu connected Granit Xhaka  with a lob and he slammed the ball home from inside the box.

Arsenal now lead Group A with 12 points and are closer to the knockout stages and are followed by PSV Eindhoven with seven points while Bodo/Glimt are third with four points.
