Idris Elba Ever Being James Bond Is In The Balance
The next guy to take up the James Bond role, as it is present, is not really yet in sight and Daniel Craig is now done with being the 007 after his last in "No Time To Die". However, the possibility of Idris Elba being the new fella is one reality with some sort of uncertainties.
A number of actors such Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and even John Boyega have either been linked to making the role or shown interest in being the next James Bond, however, Elba is one that has often made it clear that the role is not one he fancy despite being the preference of the franchise's fans.
In a situation like this, it is fine to get to know what the film's producers' position are. Any guess what? They too are leaving that question open and would rather let a candidate understand the role is task-demanding and would last for at least a long while,
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Owen, both of whom are the franchise producer gave their views on the choice of Elba becoming the new British spy, and he is an actor they "love" but one thing is they will not be putting words in his mouth because the role was "hard enough" for Craig.
"We love Idris. The thing is, it's going to be a couple of years off. And when we cast Bond, it's a 10-, 12-year commitment, " Movieweb quoted both as saying during an interview with Variety.
They went on to say, "So, he's probably thinking, 'Do I really want that thing? Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting (Daniel Craig to do it).'"
Barbara and Owen's statement might not be far from the truth, as Daniel after announcing he will be stepping down from the role, later said he would rather have his hands sliced to returning to the role. Why he said that might not have been understood clearly by his fans and he had just hinted on the rigor an actor would go through to make the 007 happen.
