Dutch Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Wins As Lewis Hamilton Lashes Out At Mercedes

Max Verstappen did not fall short of expectations in his home race and won the Dutch Grand Prix that was smeared with nightmare pit stops for drivers like Red Bull's Carlos Sainz and Alpha Tauri's Yuri Tsunoda .

Just as expected from crowds, Verstappen was cheered on to the finished line and second to him was Mercedes' George Russell in +4.07s followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton was left disgruntled over not making at least a podium finish for a reason he found his team, Mercedes to be blamed for.

Hamilton was convinced he could have won the race had Mercedes not left him on old tyres for the later part of the race - he dropped from first to the fourth. Whilst he led in provision pole, Verstappen raced past with little resistance from and then followed Russell. He could not hold on and fight off other driver.

The Briton vented his grievance at the team over the radio but later admitted his emotion made him let that fly at the team. However, he was not the only driver who was having a bad day as Yuri suffered wobbling front left tyre just after he had pitted and had to return again to the pits to have that fix.

Pitting was a nightmare for Sainz on Lap 15 as he was held longer than necessary over delay on changing his rear tyres. He later served a five-second penalty for an unsafe release. He couldn't after the race help described the pit stop and the who race as "mess" for himself.

"It was a mess, the whole race in trouble, first with the confusing pit stop that we had and the yellow flag in which i saved myself by margin," he said.
