Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume Shine At Commonwealth Games
Tobi Amosun delivered on the expectations that she will come through to final for the 100m hurdle gold medal, which she did in the Games record time of 12:30 seconds in Birmingham.
At the blast of gun, Tobi picked up on her pace somewhat moderately and switched on the pace midway for what turned out to be her coasting comfortably to the finish line: her pace was unchallenged by his rivals with less than 20m left.
She become the first Nigerian ever to make the feat of gold trilogy in a single calendar year after winning gold at the African Athletics Championships, World Athletics, and now at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Ese Brume also added to the stalk of gold medal Nigeria already have by winning gold medal in long jump.
She also delivered Games record jump of 7:00m to clinch the top medal. At the just concluded World Athletics Championships, she finished second for a silver medal in long jump.
