Serena Williams Announces Plan To Retire

Serena Williams has announced that she will be retiring from tennis as she hopes to evolve into a new era of her life.

The American will be turning 41 this month and is the WTA biggest Grand Slam winner (23) after Australian legend Margaret Court (24).

She broke the news of her retirement in Vogue edition for the month of August that was released Tuesday. She, however, didn't give details on when she will finally call it quits, and that revealed might be in couple of weeks.

"I've been reluctant to admit to myself or anyone else that I have to move on from playing tennis," she wrote in her own words in the edition.

Since she will not be retiring from tennis immediately, she mentioned that she will be participating  in the New York Open.  Yet, she recalled not winning the Wimbledon as she ahead of her retirement.

"Unfortunately I wasn't ready to win Wimbledon this year," She continued to say. "I don't know if I will be ready to win New York. But I'm going to try. "
